Biography

Lion Mahesh Chandra Jethliya, Lion Mahesh joined Lions Club of Rourkela-Vedvyas in 1987. Soon he found Lionism his forte and gradually became a very active member and contributed his services in different fields, in different positions.

A leader with vision, with a very positive mind set, he exemplifies what it means, to create miracles through service. On both Administrative and Service fronts, he has brought laurels to his home club and has bagged innumberable accolades.  

Some of his felicitations include:

• International President’s Appreciation Award – 7 times;
• 100% President Award from LCI;
• Outstanding Lion of the year Award from Multiple;
• Best President Award from the District;
• Grand Service Award.

Apart from the above, his contribution to the Rourkela Vedvyas Lions Eye Hospital, the flagship service project of his home club deserves a special mention. His tireless efforts for over 7 years in getting 1 Acre of prime Govt. land at concessional premium and subsequently his role as Fund Raising Chairman in raising a whopping Rs.70.00 Lakhs, which facilitated the construction of 40 bedded state-of-the-art Eye Hospital over 9,000 sft.area.

An industrialist by vocation, Lion Mahesh has been involved in many other social and commercial organizations and has contributed every where in his inimitable working culture. He has been associated with Rourkela Chamber of Commerce & Industry as General Secretary, Rajasthan Parishad (a well reputed social organization) as President, Sundargarh Zilla Maheshwari Trust (another reputed social organization) as Managing Trustee and many other organizations.

Lion Mahesh is leading a happy and fulfilled married life with Lion Lady Kiran and two daughters, Rishika and Vrinda.

Biography

Lion Gopinath Mohanty, born on 27th September 1948 in a historical village Srijang of Baleshwar District was meritorious student during his student career. His father was a freedom fighter. He occupied 15th position in the State in Matriculation examination and was awarded with National Scholarship from 1st year science to M.Sc. (Physics). He later got Law Degree.

He stared his journey of life as Lecturer in Physics in D. K. Science College, Jaleswar and Stewart Science College, Katak. After a brief interlude he joined in administrative service. He held coveted posts like collector Dhenkanal & Anugul, Director of various Departments like Employment, Tourism, Culture S. C. & S. T, and S. C. & S.T  RTI. As Managing Director OTDC & OSFDC he made the organizations profitable. He held the posts of Commissioner-cum-Secretary of various Departments like Revenue & Disaster Management, School & Mass Education, Tourism, Women & Children Development, Higher Education, Culture & Information & Public Relation with distinction.  

His Journey in Lionism started in 1982 while he was working as SDO Dhenkanal. He became President in the second year and took Lionism to interiors by organising plantation program, competition among ladies on alpana etc. He became charter President of Bhubaneswar Crown during    2002-03. He was Z.C. in 2003-04 & R. C. in 2006-07. He became VDG – I in 2009-10 and District Governor in 2010-11.

As Lion member he favored Lions club of Dhenkanal with a plot of land on lease. He also facilitated lease of AC. 2.00 Land in Rourkela for Heart foundation. He was instrumental in getting a plot of land for Lions Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

During the Lionistic year 2010-11 he opened 14 new clubs, inducted 751 new lion members. The net growth was 308 new members. He occupied 1st position in the Multiple District 322 in Extension and Membership Growth Besides he organised 5 Mega Service Programs in association with number of clubs and members from all over the District for the first time in Lions History. Those programs are Women Empowerment, Lions Ability Mission 1000, Lions Idol 2010, Children Fair for Bustee Children & Multiple Leo Meet at Puri.

Besides under his stewardship the Lions District 322C2 was registered under Society Registration Act 1860 after 50 years of Lionism in Odisha. The District also obtained PAN Number from Income Tax Department.

He dreamt Lions Bhawan in 2003-04 as Z. C. and organised Fund raising program during Installation time in July 2010, got a commitment for Rs. 28.00 Lakh form Lion Members. He could collect more than Rs. 16.00 Lakh and constructed the stilt floor of the Bhawan. He also made a separate Trust for Lions Bhawan titled as Odisha Lions Bhawan Trust and got it registered.

He was awarded with Bright Start (Bright Light) Award in October 2010 and bagged International President’s medal at the end of Lionistic year.

As working President of State Level Vyasa Kabi Fakir Mohan Smruti Samsad, he is taking pioneering role in documentation of Culture at micro-level with a maiden venture in the country. The organization has already published 14 volumes of Cultural Heritage of Odisha (district wise) in English. Each volume contains authentic articles on Geography, History, Archaeology, Culture, Literature, Economics and Modern aspects of the district. He is also instrumental in construction of VyasaKabi Fakir Mohan Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

As President of Sri Jagannath Sanskruti Parishad, he is organising monthly prabachan on Sri Jagannath Culture. As President of Odiya Bhasa and Sahitya Pratisthan he is working for promotion of Odiya language all over the State.

He is married to Smt. Sanchita Mohanty known for her creditable social service. She also represented Odisha Vidhan Sabha from Korei constituency during 2004-09. They are blessed with two sons Satyakam and Satya Prem. Both are Engineer with MBA degree. Both are married & happily placed in their life.

His journey of life is very much interesting and full of challenging tasks. He is an organisation himself.

Biography

Suresh Kumar Padhy, MJF, born on 29th September 1958 in a village that is 20 KMs away from Berhampur town. After his school education in his own village, he completed his college study in Khalikote college, Berhampur, and started his career in Berhampur as an entrepreneur, by establishing his own small scale industry, has always been deeply involved in various social activities from his childhood.

Lion Suresh Kumar Padhy joined Lionism in 1991 as a charter member. In the 1 st year itself, he was Board of Director, Vice President and finally became the President of the club in 1995-96. He became zone chairman in 1996-97 and Region chairman in 1997-98. from that day onwards he was continuously representing the district in various capacities like chairman, extension in 1998-99 to Dist Chairman, long range planning in 2009-10.

He has received 100% president award, best zone chairman, best region chairman, international president's appreciation award and many more to his credit. He has received the district grand award in cataract in 1995-96 in his tenure of presidency

Apart from Lionism, Ln Suresh Kumar Padhy is involved in many social activities like Krusak Jagaran manch, Pathagara Andolan, life member to Isckon, Biswa Hindu Parisad, S.T. Jones Ambulance, Redcross, patanjali yoga Kendra and many more

Lion Padhy has happily married with Lion Anupama and blessed with two sons, Ashish and Sumanta. The elder son Ashish, who is an Engineer in Infosys and the younger, is reading 10+2 science in Bhubaneswar.

Biography

Lion Padma Charan Nayak, MJF was born in Nimapara in the holy district of Puri as the eldest son of a joint family. He graduated in B.Com(Hons.) from Prana Nath College, Khurda(Utkal University, Odisha) in the year 1979. Further, he went on to complete C.A. Articleship. Then began his life as an entrepreneur when he started his own business in the field of Logistics Management and Trading in the year 1984 in Rourkela leading him to become the President of Rourkela Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 1998-99 & 99-2000. Being a self motivated person with zeal to success, his tenure as the president in the year 1999 has been noted as a landmark year for carrying out massive relief work for the “super cyclone” affected people of Coastal Odisha.

Lion P.C.Nayak’s journey of Lionism began when he joined the Lions Club of Rourkela-Vedvyas motivated by Lion B.N.Pattnaik in the year 1991. Later on he took a transfer to Lions Club of Rourkela-Chhend to bring it alive since it was on the verge of getting closed. He efficiently worked for it and became its President for 2002-03.He held various posts like Special Invitee, Zone Chairperson, Region Chairperson, District Co-ordinator Adopt a school(R-1), District Chairperson Sight First in the District cabinet from time to time before being elected as the 2nd VDG(Elect). He attended two Regional Lions Leadership Training Institutes at Bhubaneswar and Kathmandu. He has been appreciated and awarded with awards from the International President for outstanding membership growth.

Besides, he is also heading many social and cultural organizations. He is Vive-President Manav Seva Sadan(founder member), Working Chairman,National Institute of Social Development , Chairman,Rourkela Goods Transporter’s Association, Vice-President Youth Hostels Association of India(Rourkela Chapter).He was the Vice President of Orissa Women’s Hockey Association and Rourkela Intellectual Forum. He is also the member of Railway’s Users Consultative Committee, S.E.Railway, Indian Red Cross Society and ISKCON. He is the Chief of Bureau, Odisha of National Transport Express, the only newspaper of its kind in India. He is also a multi-linguist.

Apart from all this, Lion Padma Charan Nayak is also a family man. He is happily married to Lion Tuhina Biswal who is the President of Lions Club of Rourkela-Chhend. A Master of Arts, she also supports the spiritual movement of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris and she is doing her Post Graduate Diploma in Spirituality and Value Education. They are blessed with two daughters, Tulika who is a Software Engineer and Tulana who is pursuing her higher studies in Ravenshaw University, Cuttack.
